Neeva

Neeva was a privacy-focused, ad-free search engine founded by former Google ads chief Sridhar Ramaswamy. In early 2023 it launched NeevaAI, one of the first search engines to give AI-written answers with citations. It suited students, researchers, journalists and anyone who needs to find and check information. Neeva announced in May 2023 that acquiring users was too hard and shut down its consumer search engine on June 2, 2023. Paid users received refunds and user data was deleted. Snowflake acquired the company shortly afterwards to use its technology for search over business data. Anyone who liked Neeva can switch to another privacy-first or AI-answer search engine. If you need something similar today, popular options include Kagi, Perplexity, DuckDuckGo. Lesson for users: always keep your own copies of important data when you rely on any AI service, because products can change owners or close with little notice.
